2011 October Blizzard rocks Prospect Connecticut (and most of New England), I have a feeling it is going to be a looooonnng winter!

New England gets hit with a Blizzard in October!

It was hard to believe when I first heard it... A big Nor' Easter was headed for New England, the weekend BEFORE Halloween!

I think I, like most just figured it was a lot of fuss over nothing.  After all, it is OCTOBER.  We are still playing Fall baseball here in Prospect.  Well believe it or not, the Weather Men were RIGHT.  If anything, they under estimated.  The last time we checked on the porch it was 12+ inches.

Driving around town it is easy to see all the homes that still have their Air Conditioners in, lawn furniture out, etc. 

I have a feeling it is going to be a long winter here in CT.

I'm thinking of all the businesses in survival mode who really needed Halloween income to stay afloat. This is not good for them.

I'm hoping this is not a sign of things to come.  Last year was a  NIGHTMARE with one Nor' Easter after another after another.  I'm hoping its just a Halloween "trick" and that the season to come won't be too terrible.

Well we ended up getting 19" here in Prospect! The estimate from Mayor Bob tonight was 7 more days of no power/no heat/ no running water. I just ordered 2 propane heaters and a BIG gas generator. At least I'll be ready NEXT time :( Let's hope for a warm week.
