 American strong man Derek Poundstone will attempt to give a new meaning to fire power today: He will stand in front of a fire engine, pulling it with all his might down Center Street.

Poundstone, the 315-pound winner of the America's Strongest Man competitions in 2007 and 2009, is preparing for the World's Strongest Man competition. Prospect's volunteer fire department is allowing Poundstone to use its biggest and heaviest truck for training.

The truck weighs about 59,000 pounds, or 29.5 tons, according to Mayor Robert Chatfield.

Poundstone is expected at the Prospect Police Station around 4:00 today.
